Our First Project: The Grange

Revitalizing a Historic Gathering Place

RCT’s first major initiative is the restoration of the former Grange Hall, located at 726 Route 106 in Felchville.

Originally built as a cheese factory and moved from South Reading in 1902, the Grange has long been a cornerstone of local life - hosting dances, suppers, weddings, performances, and community meetings for generations.

Historically, Grange halls would function as vital community hubs, hosting everything from town meetings and potluck dinners to contra dances and agricultural education programs.

The Grange restoration will preserve an important piece of Reading’s history while reimagining it as a vibrant community hub for future generations.

RCT has secured an option to purchase the Grange and we are currently:

  • Conducting architectural and engineering assessments

  • Gathering community input on potential uses (such as a café, retail space, or community meeting area)

  • Coordinating with preservation partners

  • Raising funds for purchase and renovation
